Degree of Moral Consideration

Baseline degree of moral consideration or worth: A level sufficient not to harmfully exploited, where deprivation of life and liberty is enough.

Possible Criteria for a any degree of moral consideration

Not Considered

  • Natural Lifespan. The longer an individual lives, the more opportunity for happiness and fullfillment.
    • The 400-Year-Old Greenland Shark[1]
    • Clams have been known to live 500 years[2]
    • Tortoises over 200 years, the longest terrestrial animal[2]
    • Individuals of one species of jellyfish can be immortal; Instead of dying, they revert to an earlier stage in their lifecycle.[2]
